The historic stadium was built at the time of King Amanullah Khan ruled Afghanistan in 1923. Named Ghazi as being the embodiment of Ghazi (Hero) for the victory of the Afghan stronghold in the Third Anglo-Afghan War and gained independence for his people after the Anglo-Afghan Treaty of 1919. The stadium has a large capacity that is able to accommodate 25,000 spectators.


Ghazi stadium is known haunted by the surrounding community.
